“Being a first-time homebuyer, I was concerned about finding a trust worthy builder that could do my renovations on time and to a high standard. The TV show ‘Cowboy Builders’, along with renovation horror stories I’d heard from friends, had me completely paranoid about all the things that could possible go wrong. Thankfully, we found Brondes Group, and they did an excellent job from start to finish.
Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom Victorian-era apartment had last been ‘tarted’ up in the late 90s and needed some love and attention to move it on from ‘student flatshare’. We decided to replace the laminate flooring with hardwood oak, install under-floor heating throughout, re-fit a bathroom, replace the kitchen worktop, fit floor-to-ceiling shelving in the lounge and finish everything off with a coat of paint. We considered sourcing different contractors to do different parts of the project, but in the end it we decided on Brondes Group as they offered all these services. This saved us what would have been a difficult job, co-ordinating tradesman and schedules.
Patrick Blair became our main contact and project manager throughout the job. He was very patient, walking us through all stages of renovation, providing detailed quotations, and was flexible and accommodating. Patrick, and his colleague Landi, were excellent at sourcing and suggesting materials that would meet our aesthetic requirements within budget. Although we were not living in the apartment during most of the renovation period, the work crew always kept the site organised and tidy—a good sign of diligent craftsmen.
The end result exceeded our expectations. The work was finished on time, even though we added additional repairs along the way. I have since recommended the Brondes Group to both colleagues and friends, and when I get around to doing that second bathroom, I’m sure we’ll get them back. Good, trustworthy, efficient builders are hard to find- or so I’m told. Thank you, Patrick, Landi and team, for helping turn our ‘student flat’ into a home.”

“True creative craftsmanship and a professional attitude
I wanted contemporary shelving comprising open spaces and square cupboards for a modern flat with a curved ceiling. ie something specific and especially designed, that was staggered in height. On a practical level, it also had to fit round electrical and phone
sockets.
I think what impressed me the most was the way Patrick sat down with me, listened and then painstakingly measured the area, gave me lots of ideas and multiple choice questions, with advice on the aesthetic effect each option would have. He then drew out the exact design on graph paper there and then.
I then had time to think about it and once I had commissioned it, he returned and we went over the graphic paper pattern again before he ordered materials and set about building it.
It looks fabulous and it is bespoke – and is exactly as he designed it. Nothing fudged in the making.
Meanwhile Landi took out a light fitting and created a very clever solution for concealing cables and electrics. Again this was true creativity, imagination and executed with professionalism – no “that’ll do approach” or half-hearted measures, but instead he made a huge effort to provide a solution that looks as if it is part of the original architect’s design of the flat!
They kept my flat as clean as was possible during the work. They were never familiar, matey or smooth, always treating me courtesy and respect and yet still managing to be friendly and approachable.

“Firstly I’d like to extend my thanks and gratitude to the guys at Brondes Group, in particular a special thanks for Patrick and Landi. I had an unfortunate text book experience with my house renovation which left me extremely bitter and annoyed. I came across the Brondes Group through an unlikely chain of events but their genuine work ethic and honestly proved unrivaled.
Naturally I was very suspicious of all tradesmen following my experience which following 5 months of wasted time and money led me to become very cautious. Although needing to carry out an extensive rework to my house renovation, I initially commissioned the guys to do only part of it…..and that part was the most troubled and controversial aspect – Plastering.
My original builder had left every wall and ceiling scarred after plastering it and then using filler on 50-60% of the area followed by a coat of paint!! Before meeting the guys from Brondes Group I was recommended a plasterer from a so called top London contractor. He made the error of selling me his trade of the highest quality and commenced re-plastering/ skimming over my painted walls (one should note you never plaster/skim over paint – the moisture cannot soak through it, I learnt). To his credit he alarmed me right away but could not understand why the plaster was bubbling?
To cut the long story short the guys from Brondes Group were given the task of solving this problem which they reviewed and then gave me effective options on. They were true to their every last word and not only did they solve the issue appropriately but completed the job on time to the day and hour they said from the start. Anyone can re-do a job again by making one incur considerable cost, but can they source an effective solution with the owners cost base and timing in mind is what you want to ask?!
Naturally, they were asked to remain and conclude the complete renovation of my house which was all done as per the first test trial to the highest integrity, honesty and timely fashion.
For those of you reading this review it’s not just a note to say how good they are having had my initial horrid experience but to outline that there some decent trustworthy tradesman out there. These guys take pride in their work and will not go home till they are satisfied with their work which I can assure you is likely to be of a higher standard than even yours! Their work was priced very well and competitive which leads me to
recall the money I wasted first time round.

“I cannot recommend the guys at Brondes Group highly enough and have employed them to do three sets of jobs around our Victorian house over the course of 2009-2010.
The first job was in June 2009, when they fixed a Victorian window ledge on the second floor. It had cracked and a large piece had fallen down, leaving the rest of the ledge dangerously loose. Two builders were sent around that day where they did a free assessment. Their quotes were reasonable and we went ahead with the work. I was very impressed with the results, and both builders were extremely friendly and pleasant to deal with.
Since then, I’ve had them back twice. Previously to using Brondes, I had employed some builders who effectively just did a shoddy job on several jobs in the house. The bathtub they installed leaked everywhere and the kitchen cupboards were not measured properly and were blocking access to the boiler. Once again I got a free assessment of work from Brondes, along with some really innovative ideas for the kitchen problem. Rather than getting rid of the offending cabinet, they advised suggested turning the boiler 90 degrees so that it face outwards, like the cabinets themselves. This would allow me access. They also went to the store where I bought the kitchen and got me a matching cabinet to put around the boiler. As a result the kitchen looks far better than it did before and I can easily access the boiler. And the leaky bath is no longer leaky!
Last month we had the same guys at Brondes back to re-cast the two first floor front window ledges and to repair the frames around them. The windows look vastly improved now. They also fixed a broken roof tile at the back of the house, and repaired, filled and painted the column facade work around the front door. It had badly deteriorated but now looks amazing.
The second and third jobs involved the builders being in and out of the house constantly. To ease the admin on this I simply gave them a set of keys. They were always tidy and very pleasant to deal with. They phone when they have a question about the work and I like the easy and open communication.
Great company – will definitely be using them again for any future building or repair.”
